A press release from Square-Enix today has revealed that a revamped edition of the PSOne (originally SNES) classic Final Fantasy V, will be released this year on the PlayStation Network in the ever expanding library of “PSOne classic” games. This edition is promised to have the return of classic gameplay including “the Active Time Battle system, mini quests, magic summoning and much more.” But this time something more is being added with new exclusive CG cinematic sequences said to be found only on the PSN version. For those of you who have not experienced this staple in the FF franchise before, here’s a bit about the story:
“About FINAL FANTASY V
One day, the Tycoon King, upon feeling an irregularity in the air currents, rushed to the Wind Shrine, only to find the Wind Crystal shattering to pieces right before his eyes. In addition to this catastrophe, an enormous meteor had fallen to the ground, causing earthquakes in the surrounding land near Tycoon Castle.
Unbeknownst to them, this event is about to bring four people from different walks of life together on a common journey filled with new encounters and many mysteries.”
No official release date yet, but be sure to look out for FFV later this year on the PSN for both the PSP and PS3. Stay tuned for future news!
