In this day and age, you can download games new and old from just about anywhere. Play them on your iPhone or Android. Download them to your Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, or Wii. It’s not too difficult to find what you want and get it. But what happened to the simple days? You know, the days when you would have to unplug your antenna from your TV, twist on your RF cable (before your HDMI days, kiddies), and blow out your cartridge before you could get down to some gaming? What happened to those good ole days? Don’t you wish there could be a place where you could go back and find all of those awesome consoles and games and just play them the way they were meant to be played in glorious 256 x 224 p? It’s something that dreams are made of: A place where gamers can find all of the classic games, classic consoles, and memories from the past. A game collector’s paradise!

Well dream no longer! Amazon has opened up a Retro Gaming Store where all of this has come true. Games, systems, and accessories from the N.E.S., Dreamcast, PlayStation One, and more are organized and available for the those feeling a bit of that nostalgia calling out to them.

So what if the original Metroid is going to cost you $500?! So what if Super Mario World will only put you out $900?! Chump change! Right?! It’s worth it!

Okay, okay, well in all fairness, while there are some pretty ridiculous prices on some rare items, you can find some bargains in there as well including original copies of games for you collectors out there and also some downloadable versions for those of you living in the modern digital age.

The Retro Gaming Store actually has always been around on Amazon since the Video Games section has been fully functional. All of the items included have been there. It’s only now, Amazon has decided to organize all of these treasures in one central location and boy are they thorough. The games, consoles, and accessories that you can find include those from:

  • 3DO
  • Atari 2600
  • Atari 5200
  • Atari 7800
  • Atari Jaguar
  • Atari Lynx
  • CalecoVision
  • Commodore 64
  • Commodore Amiga
  • Game Boy
  • Game Boy Advance
  • Game Boy Color
  • GameCube
  • Intellivision
  • Neo Geo Pocket
  • Nintendo 64
  • Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
  • PDAs
  • PlayStation
  • PlayStation 2
  • Sega CD
  • Sega Dreamcast
  • Sega Game Gear
  • Sega Genesis
  • Sega Master System
  • Sega Saturn
  • Super Nintendo
  • TurboGrafx 16
  • Xbox

Yeah, I think they have all of their bases covered. Unfortunately, because all of these systems have been discontinued, you will not be able to find absolutely everything you want to find from them. Still, for what it’s worth, there’s a healthy selection. As was mentioned before though, for those of you looking for retro gaming for the current generation, Amazon’s Retro Gaming Store includes classics for your Android device, PC, and other current systems.

So go on and check out Amazon’s new Retro Gaming Store and see what gaming gems you can dig up! No doubt gamers new and old will find something that will interest them and collectors might cross that one item they have been on a long journey for. Sound off in the comments below! What do you think of Amazon’s new store and did you find anything that you like there?
