Earlier this year, we informed you about some function updates that were coming to the PlayStation Vita, including Remote Play support for some PS3 format software. Today, we can confirm that remote play will be available for select titles starting today.
PlayStation has announced that both the ‘Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection‘ and the ‘God of War Collection‘ (God of War 1 and 2 HD), will receive a patch on the PS3 today, September 5, so they can be played through the Remote Play function on the PlayStation Vita.
What does this mean? Well, you can now play these titles away from your PS3 wherever you have a wireless internet signal on your PlayStation Vita. For the moment, there are no announcements about other titles that will support this function in the future, but I think we can all agree – It’s a step in the right direction.
As always, the Vita and PSP can support both disc-based and downloadable PSOne games via remote play on the PlayStation 3. If you would like to try other PS3 games with Remote Play on your Vita, we compiled a short list that can be found here.
Sound off in the comments below! Will you try out these HD collections on your Vita using the remote play function?
