Kingdom Hearts fans who have been clamoring for a Kingdom Hearts 3 game will have to wait a little bit longer. The popular yet unlikely crossover between Disney and Square-Enix has not seen a home console return since Kingdom Hearts 2 in 2006. That is, until 2013. While it’s not Kingdom Hearts III, Square-Enix has plans to release something to hold over fans and welcome newcomers until the KH III arrives (or is even announced for that matter).
At the 2012 Tokyo Game Show, Square-Enix revealed an HD remaster of Kingdom Hearts 1, Re: Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days. These games will be put into one collection known as, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and will be released in 2013 for PlayStation 3. Both Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories will be full HD remasters of the PlayStation 2 games with trophies complete. However, the 358/2 Days remaster will strictly be contained to the cutscenes from the game. If you want to play Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, you will need to pick it up for the Nintendo DS.

The bad news? Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX has only been announced for Japan… so far. No doubt fans of the series worldwide will make sure their voice is heard to have the game localized elsewhere. If we get any news on that, we will let you know. For now, expect Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX to hit Japanese PS3′s in 2013. So sound off in the comments below! What do you think of this announcement, the trailer, and all things Kingdom Hearts? Would you like the HD collection to come to North America and Europe?
