If you have been stuck under a rock away from all civilization, on the moon, you may have missed the biggest movie of the year – The Avengers. If you haven’t seen it, then you might want to refrain from reading further because this article may contain spoilers.
Agent Phil Coulson has become a consistent part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe starting with his first appearance in Iron Man. From there, he would make appearances in subsequent films such as Iron Man 2 and Thor (not to mention the various Marvel One Stop shorts). The S.H.I.E.L.D. agent also appeared in this year’s massive mashup, The Avengers. Unfortunately, he met his untimely demise by the hands of Loki. Or so we thought.
While details are sketchy, Agent Coulson isn’t out of the picture for good. He will be returning in the new project from Marvel entertainment, Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. – A new TV show initiative to bring the Marvel Universe to our homes. What’s more, the actor Clark Gregg will be reprising the role as the fast-talking agent.
This surprise announcement of “Agent Coulson Lives” was made at NYCC’s Marvel Television panel. Now, we don’t know when exactly the show takes place – if this is before, after, or during the events of the Marvel cinematic universe. Nor do we know what actually happened on the helicarrier between Loki and Coulson. Several theories have been thrown around, maybe it was a life-clone, maybe it was him but he didn’t actually die. We don’t know these details, but we do know he will be back.
“Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.” will be Executive Produced by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
