2012 was a great year for geeks when it came to theatrical releases. Huge flicks like The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Amazing Spider-Man (among many others) made sure we got our fill of blockbusters for our inner geek. 2013 looks to be no different in that regard as well. After a delay from a 2012 release, the decades old and beloved Hasbro franchise, G.I. Joe, will see its new film, G.I. Joe Retaliation release this year. The action looks a bit more serious than the first film and more members of the famed gang are joining the team. Here’s the full synopsis:

While not too much has been revealed about the film, Ender’s Game is being eagerly anticipated by fans who have been following the franchise from its inception as a novel of the same name to video games and comics expanding on the universe. Last but surely not least, we have The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug coming out at the end of the year. Part two of the three part Hobbit epic, Desolation of Smaug is likely to captivate fans of the books and films alike.
