Killzone: Mercenary Blowout – New Trailer, Screens, & Release Date

Killzone Mercenary feature

PlayStation’s highly anticipated Vita game, Killzone: Mercenary is finally getting more attention with a huge information blowout. This update comes complete with the game’s synopsis, details, screens, new trailer, and even what most of us have been waiting on – a release date. Well let’s start off with that news, Killzone: Mercenary will be released exclusively for PlayStation Vita in North America on September 17, 2013. You can check out the new gameplay trailer and screens below:

Official Synopsis: Starting just after the ending of the original Killzone, and revisiting many of the events from the Killzone trilogy, the game puts players in the rugged combat boots of a mercenary named Arran Danner. Danner is a former UCA-soldier who has no qualms about taking on paid contracts from the ISA as well as the Helghast. When a seemingly routine mission to evacuate the Vektan Ambassador and his family in Pyrrhus goes awry, Danner discovers that the outcome of the war could very well depend on the fate of the Ambassador’s young son. With both sides going through increasingly desperate lengths to get hold of the boy, he begins to wonder whether the price of victory is really worth the paycheck. - Guerrilla

The game features the following:

  • Nine single-player missions — each nearly an hour in length.
  • Full multiplayer with six maps for eight players and three different game types

After each mission, there are also opportunities to play again, complete challenges, and unlock extras. Players earn money in both the multiplayer and single-player modes which can be used to buy upgrades, weapons, and gear in both modes.  PlayStation and Guerrilla are promising that this game, which is based off of the same engine from Killzone 3, will impress gamers when they get their hands on it.

What are your thoughts about the game so far? Any hopes? Sound off in the comments below! Killzone Mercenary drops for PlayStation Vita on September 17, 2013.
